ANIMESH PATEL

ANIMESH PATEL

Consultant Plastic Surgeon

I grew up in the city of Leicester but have spent most of my life living in Cambridge. I graduated from the University of Cambridge Clinical School in 1999 and then went on to work as a junior doctor in the region, during which time I also worked for the University of Cambridge as Demonstrator and Supervisor in Anatomy, teaching undergraduate medical students.

My plastic surgery training started in 2004, and I went on to work in Leicester, Norwich and Leeds before coming back to Cambridge to start my Higher Plastic Surgery training, during which I worked in all the Plastic Surgery units in East Anglia (Cambridge, Chelmsford, Norwich and Stevenage). During my training, I also undertook a masters degree (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics.

At the end of my Plastic Surgery training, I undertook the nationally-recognised Training Interface Group (TIG) fellowship in cosmetic surgery, followed by a fellowship in Microsurgery, specialising in Head and Neck Cancer Reconstruction, Breast Reconstruction, and Major Trauma Reconstruction.

I have been on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery since 2014. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).

I have been a consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge since 2014. Please see this interview I did with the University’s Surgical Society for a little insight into my working life.

I continue to have a strong interest in teaching and training- I am the Assigned Educational Supervisor to all Core Surgical Trainees in Plastic Surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and I co-ordinate and supervise all the Clinical School medical student placements in Plastic Surgery.

I have written and supervised a number of journal publications, covering a wide range of Plastic Surgery topics, and have written a number of book chapters in Surgical text books. I have had a number of presentations at regional, national and international conferences.

At Coach House Health Care, I offer advice and treatment for skin lesions (including suspected skin cancers), minor surgical procedures (including moles), non-surgical facial rejuvenation and general plastic surgery issues.
